KTTC WILL HOST\u00a0A CLUB 41-POINT HANDICAP TEAM TOURNAMENT IN NOV 2014<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In order to encourage every member to play competitively, KTTC will be hosting a 41-Point Handicap Club Team Tournament. \u00a0The following will list out the format\u00a0of the tournament and details.<\/p>\n

Team Draw Format:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each team will have 4 players. \u00a0Ideally, we will have 16 players signed up and have 4 teams of 4 to play this tournament. \u00a0The way we draw the team is to divide the participants into four divisions based on their rating or estimated ratings. \u00a0Then you pick one player from each division\u00a0randomly\u00a0to form a team. \u00a0This means that each team will have one player from each division. \u00a0If there are more players, we can expand this to five teams of four. \u00a0But it has to be four players before a new team can be formed.<\/p>\n

Then we will play a Round Robin round with all the teams. \u00a0So if there are four teams, there will be three rounds of team tie (team match)\u00a0with a total of six team ties.<\/p>\n

Team Match format:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each team tie will have four singles and two doubles. \u00a0Each match will be one game of 41 points using the 41-points handicap system. \u00a0The double handicap will be the total handicap between the two double teams\u00a0divided by 2. \u00a0So if a pair has a total rating of 3500 and the other team has 3100, the handicap difference is 200 (i.e. 400 \/ 2).<\/p>\n

Team captain will decide their player’s position, i.e. who plays A, B, C, or D position before the tie.<\/p>\n

So the pairing of matches will be the following:<\/p>\n

A plays W (Single)<\/p>\n

B plays X (Single)<\/p>\n

C & D plays Y & Z (Double)<\/p>\n

A & B plays W & X (Double)<\/p>\n

C plays Y (Single)<\/p>\n

D plays Z (Single)<\/p>\n

So six matches per team tie. \u00a0All matches will be played (event though if the result is certain). \u00a0Then whichever team wins 4 matches will win the tie. \u00a0If each team wins 3 matches and results in a tie, the team that scores the most points wins, i.e every point counts! \u00a0If this is still tied, each team will pick one player to play one more single match to add to the total score for tie break. \u00a0Once the player has played in a Tie-Break match, the same player cannot play for the next tie-break match. \u00a0So choose wisely.<\/p>\n

Also, players\/double teams switch sides at 20 points. \u00a0Then 1 minute break is allow for coaching by team members at the side switching or just water break.<\/p>\n

Each team will play each team in one round of Round Robin to determine winners.<\/p>\n

Team tie break will follow USATT tie break rule, count the matches among the tie break teams, then total point scores and lost.<\/p>\n

Fees and Awards:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each player will pay $10 to participate so we will have a pool of $160 prize money (Assuming 16 players signed up).<\/p>\n

1st place – get $80<\/p>\n

2nd place – get $40<\/p>\n

If there are more teams, in general, 1st place get 50%, 2nd place get 25%, the rest of the entry fees go to the club treasury.<\/p>\n

The match schedule will be determined based on the number of players signed up and total number of teams. \u00a0Each week, we will play one team tie, e.g. Team A vs Team B or Team C vs Team D. \u00a0So the entire tournament will be spread out over many weeks. \u00a0This\u00a0will reduce the number of tables needed reserved for the team match. \u00a0In general, every week both Tuesday and Thursday, there should be one team tie play. \u00a0Also, individual matches can be played out of schedule if the players involved are not present.<\/p>\n

Team Draw will start on 11\/4\/2014 and first four teams will play on that day. \u00a0The detail schedule will be posted on this web site once the team rosters are finalized.<\/p>\n
