Since we didn’t host any tournament the past few years, we have decided to host more this year!  We are happy to announce that we will host our second tournament of the year called the Knoxville Gold Dollar “Sweat For Ukraine” Charity Open Tournament on October  8th<\/sup>, 2022.  This tournament is part of a multi-racket sport event hosted by the Tennessee Tennis Club and Academy (TTCA), our new home for the table tennis club.  This event is to help raise money for a local non-profit organization named Aid To Ukraine, LLC.  The organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises money for the humanitarian aid in Ukraine.  You can visit their web site here<\/a> for details.  The entire event will be a 3-day event including competition for Tennis, Pickle Ball and Table Tennis.  The Table Tennis event is an USATT sanction tournament event and it will be held on Saturday October 8th<\/sup>, 2022.  More details will come for the other sporting events and activities.<\/p>\n

This tournament format will adopt a World Cup style format where stage 1 will be a round robin of 8 groups of 6 players each.  Then every one will advance to their respective divisional playoff quarter finals, i.e. first place finish will go to Division A Quarter Finals, 2nd place finish will go to Division B Quarter Finals, etc.  We will also play the Third place match for all divisions playoff.  In addition, any players who have lost their Quarter finals will be paired together to play one more double match with some souvenirs designed by our friends from the Aid To Ukraine organization as the winning prize of the double match.  The double match results will not be reported to USATT.<\/p>\n

We will continue to offer Upset Gold Dollars as well.  For those who are familiar with our Gold Dollar Upset format, the winner of every upset match played between two USATT rated players will receive Upset Gold Dollar.  The rules for winning the upset Gold Dollar are:<\/p>\n

  1. Gold Dollars will be paid to the winners of all upsets, regardless of player’s rating.<\/li>\n
  2. Winners of each and every upset will receive gold dollars using the following payout schedule:\n
      \n
    1. Rating difference: 100 or less, Gold Dollar reward: $5.00<\/li>\n
    2. Rating difference: 101 to 150, Gold Dollar reward: $10.00<\/li>\n
    3. Rating difference: 151 or larger, Gold Dollar reward: $15.00<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    4. The gold dollars will be paid immediately upon confirmation of match sheets showing upsets on a first come first get paid basis until the funds run out. KTTC reserves $200 Gold Dollars for this payout.  So sharpen your game and hit the court running fast!<\/li>\n
    5. Rating used to determine the upsets will be the USATT ratings of record as of 09:00 a.m. Friday October 7th<\/sup>, 2022.  Only USATT rated players prior to the date of the tournament are eligible to win gold dollars.<\/li>\n
    6. Both players have to be USATT rated before the tournament date to be Gold Dollars eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
