Knoxville Table Tennis Club will be hosting our annual tournament – the Knoxville Joseph Newgarden Memorial Open Tournament on August 3rd<\/sup>, 2019.  The tournament will have a modified format than last year.  The tournament will be played at last year venue, the Cecil Webb Recreation Center at 923 Baker Ave., Knoxville, TN 37920.  The gym is brighter and larger than our club gym for those who may be familiar with our club gym.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The tournament will have three stages, the first stage will be round robin with 8 groups of 5 players each.  All players will advance out of the first stage to second stage round robin.  Depending on your finish, the top 3 finishes will go to Stage Two Upper Division Round Robin.  The bottom 2 finishes will go to Stage Two Lower Division Round Robin.  The Stage Two Round Robin will be 4 groups of 6 or 4 depending on the division.  Then the top two finishes of Stage Two Round Robin group will move on to play Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and Final.  Due to the new format, we will not play the 3rd place match this time.<\/p>\n

We will continue to offer Upset Gold Dollars as well.  For those who are familiar with our Gold Dollar Upset format, the winner of every upset match played between two USATT rated players will receive Upset Gold Dollar.  The rules for winning the upset Gold Dollar are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Gold Dollars will be paid to winners of all upsets, regardless of player’s rating.<\/li>\n
  2. Winners of each and every upset will receive gold dollars using the following payout schedule:\n
      \n
    1. Rating difference: 100 or less, Gold Dollar reward: $5.00<\/li>\n
    2. Rating difference: 101 to 150, Gold Dollar reward: $10.00<\/li>\n
    3. Rating difference: 151 or larger, Gold Dollar reward: $15.00<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    4. The gold dollars will be paid immediately upon confirmation of match sheets showing upsets on a first come first get paid basis until the funds run out. KTTC reserves $200 Gold Dollars for this payout.  So sharpen your game and hit the court running fast!<\/li>\n
    5. Rating used to determine the upsets will be the USATT ratings of record as of 09:00 a.m. Friday August 2nd<\/sup>, 2019.  Only USATT rated players prior to the date of the tournament are eligible to win gold dollars.<\/li>\n
    6. Both players have to be USATT rated before the tournament date to earn Gold Dollars.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
